2009 - Tijuana, Mexico
Grace Children's Home

In July 2009, Meadow Valley sent a team of 22
people to the Grace Children's Home
in Rosarito, Mexico, located
on the outskirts
of Tijuana. Grace Children's Home is a ministry directed by George
and Stacey Palau, in
association with YUGO Ministries. The
home serves as an orphanage for 31 boys and girls who have been placed
there by Mexican social services or who have
been abandoned. In either instance, the children are typically
expected to remain there for most of their
childhood. While living at the Grace Children's Home, they are
able to
get a good education at a private bilingual
school, be fed three square meals a day, have their own bed and clean
clothes, and learn about Jesus.
Most of all, they are in an environment where they know they are loved.
Grace
Children's Home also is active in reaching out to their neighboring community by inviting them in for
weekly
Bible studies and by completing the construction of a medical and dental clinic
on their premises.
The mission team which was sent served in two main
areas. The first was running a week-long VBS for the
children. This involved teaching the
children about the Bible, and being involved in singing songs,
performing
skits, making crafts, and
playing games. Also, the team was able to
take the children for a day at the beach. The
second area in which they served the home was
through service and construction projects. They were able to
continue the finishing work on the areas which will later
become the medical/dental clinic, along with putting up
wire for security purposes and other tasks needed at
the home. A team member in the medical profession was
also able to perform some basic screenings and nutrition seminars for
the home.
